We’ve been offering reusable bowls since our founding in 2006. At all Just Salad locations, you can order your salad or warm bowl in a reusable MyBowl.

Between 2021-2022, we partnered with the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute at the Rochester Institute of Technology (NYP2I) to perform an environmental life cycle assessment on our reusable MyBowl and disposable fiber bowl. A summary of the findings is here. The full report is here.

Open your Just Salad app + select BringBack Bowl Pickup to have your meal prepared in a green returnable bowl.
Enjoy your meal, then return your bowl to the drop-off bin located at any participating location (we’ll handle the cleaning!)

Yes! Though the shape is different, both our reusable bowls and disposable containers hold the same amount of food.
Yes! Our reusable bowls have been tested for dishwasher safety.
You can return the BringBack bowl in the drop off bins located at any participating location listed above. Follow the instructions on the drop-off bin to confirm your return within the Just Salad App.
BringBack is currently available at 14 Just Salad locations listed above. We’re actively looking to expand this pilot, so look out for additional stores coming soon.
No need! We professionally wash + sanitize each BringBack bowl on-site.
Our teammates are trained to professionally clean and sanitize each BringBack bowl in accordance with health codes that apply to all types of reusable and dine-in containers.

The green BringBack bowl should be returned to the drop-off bin after use. If you would like to own a bowl to use for ordering in-store, you can purchase a blue reusable MyBowl at any Just Salad location.
There are a few differences:
- BringBack Bowl allows you to place an app order for pickup in a green returnable bowl. You'll return this bowl when you're ready to pick up your next order. We'll take care of the cleaning.
- MyBowl applies to orders placed in-store. You can purchase a blue reusable bowl at any Just Salad location and earn a free topping (like avocado) every time you reuse it. This bowl is yours to keep, and can only be used in-store.
A third-party lifecycle assessment of the BringBack program, conducted by the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute, concluded that the BringBack bowl has less global warming impacts than a disposable fiber bowl after just two uses, on average. Read the summary findings here.
